The Myanmar's military on Wednesday handed power to a nominally civilian government after almost 50 years in power, as the military regime was disbanded and a new President was appointed. Myanmar state television reported that the regime's State Peace and Development Council has been officially dissolved. The TV quoted an order signed by Senior General Than Shwe. U. Thein Sein has been sworn-in as President. Besides two Vice-Presidents also took oath. President U Thein Sein has named 30 Cabinet Ministers.
