Civil Nuclear Liability Bill: Centre rejects charge of misuse of CBI to get clean chit to Narendra Modi

The government today strongly rejected the opposition's charge of the misuse of CBI in getting a clean chit for the Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi in return of BJP support for smooth passage of the Civil Nuclear Liability bill. While asserting that the government has never interfered in the functioning of the CBI, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal said in the Lok Sabha that the premier investigating agency, has itself denied the media reports. He said that the Supreme Court is monitoring the Sohrabuddin case.The Minister also strongly repudiated the charge by the Leader of Opposition, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj that the centre is adopting step-motherly attitude towards the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh. Mr. Bansal said, the Centre does not discriminate against any state government, whichever party may be ruling there.
