Cooperation in civil nuclear energy, security and economic issues are expected to dominate the summit talks between Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his Japanese counterpart Naoto Kan in Tokyo on Monday afternoon.Apart from the announcement of the conclusion of negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, some agreements to further strengthen their bilateral ties will be signed by the two sides. Dr Singh who arrived in Tokyo last evening on a three day visit will have an audience with the Emperor and Empress of Japan this morning. He will also address business luncheon to be hosted by Japan Business Federation.Earlier in an interview to Japanese media, Dr Singh expressed confidence that India will be able to conclude the agreement on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy with Japan. He said that such an agreement will be a win win proposition for both the countries. He, however, said that no deadlines have been set for concluding negotiations on the agreement.Dr Manmohan Singh said both countries will benefit from the agreement that provides a long term and stable basis of cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. He has said that India's nuclear industry is poised for a major expansion and called on Japan to be a partner in this initiative.Dr Manmohan Singh said that India is aware of the capabilities of Japanese firms in this field and the important role they play in the global supply chain. Dr Manmohan Singh reiterated that India has impeccable record on non proliferation which has been recognised by the world community. He said India is committed to maintaining its voluntary moratorium on nuclear testing.
