The Civil Aviation Ministry has given clearance for four greenfield airports. The three greenfield airports will be in Andhra Pradesh and an international airport at Dholera in Gujarat. <br/><br/>Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey yesterday said in New Delhi, the international airport at Dholera is expected to reduce the air traffic load at the existing Ahmedabad airport. <br/><br/>The Environment Ministry has already given environmental clearance to 1,378 crore rupees airport project at Dholera in Ahmedabad last year. <br/><br/>Mr Choubey said, the site clearance, which is the first clearance, was given for the Bhogapuram airport in Andhra Pradesh which is about 40 km from Visakhapatnam. <br/><br/>He said, the Ministry has also given its go ahead for development of a greenfield airport in Nellore and Kurnool districts under a public-private partnership. A greenfield airport is a new airport which is constructed on an undeveloped site.<br/><br/>The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamsabad near Hyderabad and Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru are greenfield airports.
