Civil Aviation Minister: No decision on privatisation of Air India in haste

Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju today indicated that there will be no decision on privatisation of Air India in a hurry. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, he said, all issues will be examined and the government is not closed to any idea. He was replying to a media query whether he would favour privatisation of the state-run airline. Asked whether the new dispensation would probe all decisions taken by the previous government, Pusapati said, his ministry has to first formulate its own thinking about the issues. On privatisation of airports including those at Kolkata and Chennai, the Minister said, he would take a call only after examining all related issues.On whether Robert Vadra would continue to be in the VIP list and not be checked at airports, he said, it will depend on the threat perception assessed by the Home Ministry.
