CITU calls for transport strike in WB

The CPIM's labour organisation, CITU has called for a state wide 24 transport strike in West Bengal to protest against the hike in petroleum products. <br/><br/>The State General Secretary of the CITU Shyamal Chakravarthy told newspersons in Kolkata that state government run buses and others including public buses in all sectors have been kept will be covered under the bandh. <br/><br/>But he said that ambulances, fire brigade and other government transport will be exempted from the bandh. He criticised Mamata Banerjee for her absence in the EGOM meeting which decided the hike in petroleum prices.<br/>
