Coal India Limited, CIL has prepared a road map to achieve a coal production level of one billion tonnes by the year 2019-20. In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, the Minister for Coal, Power, New and Renewable Energy and Mines Piyush Goyal said the company has already identified mines and projects to produce 908 million tonnes and further plans to augments production up to 1000 million tonnes are being developed. He said CIL has increased its production from over 462 million tonnes in 2013-14 to around 539 million tonnes in 2015-16.
