The Confederation of Indian Industry, CII, has decided to work in collaboration with Dhaka based India – Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, and Industry, IBCCI, and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services, BASIS, to help in establishing a five billion dollar information technology industry in Bangladesh. This was disclosed by Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, Chairman of the CII National Committee on Information Technology who led a delegation on Indian IT companies to Dhaka. Dr. Ganesh Natarajan told All India Radio that a number of Indian IT companies are interested in working in Bangladesh in the area of skill development. He said that Zensar technologies which is basically an outsourcing company is interested in establishing a centre in Dhaka while another Indian skill development company Global Talent Track is planning to work with Bangladesh based ICE Technologies to set up training centres of excellence in collaboration with Universities. The CII delegation also felt that the investment climate in Bangladesh is good with the government supporting the IT industry as part of its Digital Bangladesh programme. A delegation of officials from the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information services is scheduled to visit Pune next week to look at ways to further strengthen this new partnership. The CII feels that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are two countries which can be good partners for further expansion of the Indian IT industry.
