The Central Information Commission, CIC has launched a special drive to clear cases pending before it. The drive was launched on the 2nd of last month. The Commission has also introduced hearing of cases through tele conferencing and video conferencing by the Constitution of benches to ensure speedier disposal. The Minister of State for Personnel Public Grievances and Pension Narayansami informed Lok Sabha in a written reply that nearly 14 thousand appeals or complaints were pending before CIC as on 31st of October this year. He said that the average pendency is approximately six months and 54 percent of the pending cases are less than three months old.
