CIC asks Delhi, Guj universities to give info on PM's degree

The Central Information Commission has directed Delhi and Gujarat Universities to provide proper responses to RTI applications seeking details of education qualifications of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Information Commissioner M Sridhar Acharyulu today directed the PMO to make available roll number and degree number of Mr. Modi to the Delhi University so that it can search the records and facilitate disclosure of information. Delhi University had claimed that unless the roll number of a student is provided, it would be difficult for it to search the records.

The order came a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to Mr. Acharyulu asking why the Commission wants to hide information on Mr. Modi's educational qualifications. According to an affidavit submitted by the Prime Minister to Election Commission during last Lok Sabh polls, he has BA dgree form Delhi University and MA from Gujarat University.
