Christmas, marking the birth of Jesus Christ, is being celebrated across the globe on Monday. <br/><br/>In his Christmas Eve Mass at the Vatican, Pope Francis urged the world not to ignore the plight of millions of migrants who are driven from their land. <br/><br/>The pontiff compared them to Mary and Joseph, recounting the Biblical story how they had to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem.<br/><br/>Christian pilgrims from around the world have attended a Christmas Eve Mass at Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, built on the site where Jesus Christ is believed to have been born. <br/><br/>Fewer people than usual were in the West Bank town because of increased tensions between Palestinians and the Israeli army since US President Donald Trump recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. <br/><br/>Grand Christmas celebrations were held in various parts of the country.<br/>In Nagaland, people thronged churches to celebrate the festival. Special prayer services, chanting of hymns and carols, and exchanging of greeting and gifts marked the occasion. <br/><br/>In Mizoram, two-day long celebrations mark the festival Christmas Feast will be organised by all churches across the state tomorrow. <br/><br/>Mizoram's biggest church known as Solomon's Temple was inaugurated on Monday. It is the only Solomon's Temple in South East Asia.<br/><br/>In Kerala also, colourful festivities were organised across the state. <br/><br/>In Tamil Nadu, senior bishops and priests organized special services in the world famous Santhome Basilica in Chennai and Lady Vailankanni Basilica in Nagappattinam.
