Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, CHRI, will hold a day long national workshop on condition of prisons in the country in New Delhi on Tuesday. <br/><br/>Briefing media in New Delhi, Director of the institute Sanjoy Hazarika said, two national reports on prison monitoring will be launched during the conference. <br/><br/>During the interaction, the CHRI quoting the National Crime Records Bureau data said, the prisons in the country are over-crowded and it is holding more than 4 lakh 19 thousand prisoners against the capacity of 3 lakh 66 thousand. <br/><br/>The institute said, nearly 70 per cent of the inmates in the jails are yet to be proven guilty and one-fourth of them have already spent more than a year behind bars. <br/><br/>The CHRI said that not even a single prison in India matches international standards
