Chopper deal:Govt to explore legal options to get copy of chargesheet from Italian court

The government today said it will examine every possibility
that is legally available to secure an authenticated copy of the
chargesheet on the helicopter scam from an Italian court. Speaking to reporters, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said doors are never closed as it will explore various legal options to get the required information. Yesterday, an Italian court refused to provide information about defaulting persons accountable for the alleged bribery in the VVIP chopper deal. Mr Khurshid said, even if the last decision is given, there are still opportunities for review.
Mr Khurshid was responding to a question on whether the
doors were closed for the country in securing the required information from Italy.
He said India respects the law of the land of any country and it expects them to respect the law of the land of this country. On reports that Maldives has accepted Indian mediation on the issue of former President Nasheed, Mr Khurshid said a team from New Delhi was in that country to hold discussions.
