Chopper crashed due to 'technical fault', claims Pak military

The Pakistani military says that its Mi-17 transport helicopter that crashed on Sunday in the country's restive tribal belt, was due to a technical fault and not due to hostile fire. In a statement the military said the chopper was on a mission to ferry supplies to troops.<br/> <br/>Six personnel from the army aviation corps and Frontier Corps were killed in the crash.<br/> <br/>The statement comes hours after a top Taliban commander had claimed that his men had shot it down. CNN too quoted an intelligence source and a local political official as saying that the helicopter was brought down by hostile fire.<br/> <br/>
