Kolkata's Chirag United have lifted the Durand Cup Football Trophy beating JCT Phagwara by a solitary goal. In the final at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi yesterday, striker Mohammad Rafique scored the match-winner in the 76th minute. This is the first triumph for Chirag United in any major tournament. Chirag also became the fourth team from Kolkata to win the world's third oldest football tournament.Sports Minister M S Gill, who was the chief guest for the final, urged corporate houses to show interest in the tournament.
