Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold telephonic talks with U.S. President Joe Biden today. Both the leaders will speak to each other for the first time since the Russian-Ukraine war began amid rising bilateral tensions over the war and Taiwan. The call will come just four days after a seven-hour meeting between US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and the most senior Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi in Rome on Monday, which was dominated by the crisis in Ukraine.
''
''White House spokesperson Jen Psaki confirmed that the Ukraine crisis would be on the agenda of a virtual meeting. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said yesterday that the two leaders would exchange views on issues of mutual concern this evening without giving any further details.
''
''Washington's topmost concern at the moment remains the Russia-Ukraine war which has entered its fourth week and negotiations between the two sides continue. China has thus far declined to condemn the aggression, despite frequent calls from Washington to do so. Beijing has denied taking sides or providing any of the support that the Biden administration has warned about.
