Chinese President to reach Ahmedabad shortly; Economic cooperation high on agenda

Chinese President Xi Jinping will arrive in Ahmedabad shortly on a three-day visit to India. He will be received by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, Governor O P Kohli, and her cabinet colleagues at the Ahmedabad airport.

A traditional welcome will be given to Chinese President along with the Guard of Honour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome him in Vastrapur, after which the two-leaders will hold talks. Economic cooperation is high on agenda in the talks.

Three MoUs are likely to be signed during the Chinese President's visit. Of those agreements, two are for relations between Guangdong and Gujarat, and Guangzhou and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

One MoU will be signed in industrial sector. The focus of talks will also be on cooperation in civil nuclear energy and simplifying visa regime.

Thereafter, Mr Xi will visit Sabarmati Ashram. He will also walk along the Sabarmati river front witnessing folk art forms and dances. Mr. Modi will host a private dinner for the Chinese President, after which Mr Xi will leave for New Delhi.
