Chinese PM to be on state visit to India from Dec 15

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao is coming on a three-day State visit to India from 15th of this month. The issue of staple visa to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir and China – Pakistan relationship, particularly its policy in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, management of trans-border rivers and better access to Indian pharma and other companies in the Chinese markets are expected to figure prominently in the talks between the visiting dignitary and the Indian leaders. The visit takes place after Wen Jiabao held a meeting with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of East Asia Summit in Hanoi in October this year. Ahead of his visit, the special representatives of the two countries held 14th round of border talks in Beijing. National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon, who led India in the talks, has said that India hopes to work closely with China in politics, trade, economics, infrastructure and other fields. India is closely working with China to arrive at a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution at the boundary question. Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said at a function in New Delhi recently that there is a common ground between India and China on combating terrorism and extremism, enhancing maritime security and on the need for a peaceful environment to permit the domestic economic growth and development of the two countries. Our correspondent adds, India is looking for an open balanced and inclusive architecture to enable a transparent dialogue on these issues with the Chinese leadership for stability in Asia which is in the interest of both the countries.
