<span style="color: #222222;">Maharashtra Police has said that Chinese hackers have attempted over 40,000 cyber-attacks on India's Information Technology infrastructure and banking sector during the past five days.<br />'' <br />'' Special Inspector General of Police (Cyber Wing) Yashasvi Yadav said collation of data shows that most of the attacks originated from Chengdu area in China. He said the attacks were aimed at causing trouble in banking, infrastructure and IT services like hijacking of Internet Protocol and phishing.<br />'' <br />'' Police has asked internet users to pay attention to such attacks, create robust firewalls and conduct cyber security audits. According to Maharashtra Cyber Cell officials, these hackers are suspected to have databases of some 20 lakh Indian email IDs. The cell has warned that hackers may attempt phishing by impersonating government agencies by sending fraudulent email or text messages.
