A 23-year-old Chinese girl successfully swam 74 kilometers <br/><br/>without a break in the Qingjiang River. Zhang Jie, a swimming coach at the Beijing Sports University, said it was really a tough mission. <br/><br/>Zhang Jie took the swim in Qingjiang as a warm-up for her bid to swim 80 kilometres in Xingkaihu Lake in northeastern Heilongjiang province on August 8. <br/><br/>If she succeeds, she would break the Guiness Record, becoming the first female who completes the continuous swimming with longest course in open waters. Zhang Jie, also a member of Zhang Jian Open-Water Swimming Team, crossed the Cook Strait of New Zealand in 2007, becoming the first Chinese conquering the Strait.
