Chinese Foreign Minister arriving in New Delhi tomorrow

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is arriving in New Delhi tomorrow on a two-day visit. This is the first high-level visit from China after the New Government was voted to power. During his two-day stay in India, the Chinese Foreign Minister will call on President Pranab Mukherjee and is likely to discuss issues of mutual interests. Mr Wang Yi who is coming, as Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping will hold talks with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj tomorrow. External Affairs Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said, the visit is an important element of the Year of India-China Friendly Exchanges and will provide further momentum to the India-China Strategic and Cooperative Partnership.

China has expressed keen interest in establishing high-level contacts with India's new leadership to step up engagement in political, trade and economic areas.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang during his telephonic call to Prime Minister Narendra Modi had conveyed his government's desire to establish robust partnership with the new government in India for further development of relations between the two nations.
