A Chinese company has won the rights to extract oil in the Amu Darya river basin in northern Afghanistan. The Afghan Ministry of Mines has said that the details of the project have been worked out and a proposal sent to the council of ministers for approval. Afghan government will get 15 per cent of the profit earned by the company from the oil extracted from this oilfield.
