Chinese Army Chief General calls on Nepal President, PM

Visiting Chinese Army Chief General , Chen Bingde called on the Nepal President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal in Kathmandu on Thursday. In his meeting with the Prime Minister, the Chief of the General Staff of the People’s Liberation Army said that Nepal is quite capable of resolving its own problems. He also expressed hope that the ongoing peace process in Nepal would reach a successful conclusion. Prime Minister Khanal in turn briefed him about the progress being made in timely constitution drafting and the peace process. Earlier, General Chen met with the Defense Minister Bishnu Poudel and said China is keen to provide more assistance for Nepal Army and assist in developing infrastructure. The General had arrived with a fifteen member delegation yesterday at the invitation of Nepal Army Chief Chhatraman Singh Gurung. He signed two agreements with his counterpart, in which he announced 1.4 billion rupees worth of aid to the Nepalese Army for infrastructure development.
