China's top diplomat to hold high level talks with US, week after maiden Quad Summit

<span style="color: #222222;">Senior Chinese diplomats will meet with US officials in Alaska on March 18th and 19th. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Thursday, at the invitation of the United States, China's top diplomat, Yang Jiechi, and State Councillor Wang Yi, will have a high-level strategic dialogue with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' The announcement comes ahead of the much anticipated first Quad leaders' virtual summit on Friday, 12th March which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and US President Joseph R. Biden, will be closely monitored in China. The Leaders will discuss regional and global issues of shared interest, and exchange views on practical areas of cooperation towards maintaining a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. The Summit will provide an opportunity to exchange views on contemporary challenges such as resilient supply chains, emerging and critical technologies, maritime security, and climate change. The Leaders will discuss ongoing efforts to combat COVID-19 pandemic and explore opportunities for collaboration in ensuring safe, equitable and affordable vaccines in the Indo-Pacific region.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday, "We believe that any regional cooperation architecture should follow the principle of peaceful development and win-win cooperation, which is the prevailing trend of the times."</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' In regard to the meeting of Chinese diplomats with the US officials, Zhao said, the US should manage differences, and bring the China-US relationship back to the right track of sound and steady development, leave the Cold War mentality and a zero-sum mindset, and to respect China's sovereignty.</span><br />''
