China has suspended approval for new nuclear power stations following the accident at Japan's reactor. China operates 13 nuclear reactors, all on its vast coastline potentially vulnerable to a tsunami. Officials said work will even stop at power stations where some preliminary work has already started. China is currently building 27 new reactors, nearly half those under construction worldwide.
