China has responded cautiously to plans for closer military ties between Australia and the United States. The Foreign Affairs spokesman Hong Lei said China is not a threat to Australia and the United States. He said that China hoped increased US-Australian military ties will be beneficial to peace, stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region.
