China raises interest rates for second time

China has raised interest rates for the second time in just over a month as it steps up its fight against inflation. From tomorrow, the main lending and deposit rates will go up by another quarter of a percentage point. The Central Bank announced the hike in interest rates today. Inflation is regarded as a sensitive economic indicator in China for poor families spent up half of their incomes on food.
