China: Rains, landslides claim 110 lives

In China, at least 110 people have been killed due to heavy rains and landslides since last Sunday. Swollen rivers have forced authorities to evacuate 1.4 million to safety. The worst affected is eastern province of Fujian. According to the Chinese state media, more than a million people living along rivers in China's south have been evacuated as water rises to dangerous levels. China's second-largest waterway, the Pearl River, which crosses the south, breached warning marks on Thursday. Torrential and virtually unrelenting rain has battered large swathes of China's south triggering devastating floods and landslides.
