In China, police have detained nine persons from a tech firm which allegedly developed a malware programme that has infected more than 250 million computers outside China in one year. <br/><br/>Police said the arrested persons are the key staff members of a Beijing based company and the malware is activated on the links they are hidden in, unknown to the user, to increase advertisement views and charges. State run the Beijing News reported that the malware, called fireball generated 11.85 million US dollars for the company. <br/><br/>Quoting police official, state run Global Times, said that this is the first case in Beijing involving the theft of data from overseas users. China in the past has denied the allegation from United States and European Union that Chinese hackers carried out attacks on foreign tech companies to steal data.
