China Open: Bhupathi, Bopanna enter Men's Doubles quarterfinals

The Indian duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna has stormed into the Men's Doubles quarterfinals of the China Open Tennis tournament, taking place in Beijing. In the opening round match yesterday, the Indian duo defeated the Chinese pair of Mao-Xin Gong and Ze Zhang in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Meanwhile, Serbia's Novak Djokovic, who has been given a top billing in this tournament, and third seeded Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have advanced into the Men's Singles pre-quarterfinals. Spain's David Ferrer, however, made a shock exit from the tournament as he retired during the match with Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei. In the Women's Singles, top seed Victoria Azarenka and China's Na Li have also made it to the pre-quarterfinals. Today, India's Sania Mirza and her Spanish partner Vives Llagostera will play their Women's Doubles pre-quarterfinal match. The Indo-Spanish pair will take on the Swiss-Spanish combination of Timea Bacsinszky and Maria Jose Martinez Sabchez for a place in the last eight.
