China today offered assistance to Sri Lanka for developing its coconut based industry in order to increase exports of coconut-based products to China.According to the Ministry of Coconut Development, the offer was made during a meeting between the Minister of Coconut Development Jagath Pushpakumara and the Chinese Ambassador in Colombo Wu Jianghao.The Chinese Ambassador said that there is a big demand in Chinese market for coconut coir and fiber based products and activated carbon. A Technology Transfer Programme for the coconut industry was also discussed at the meeting.
