In the Women's Singles, rising shuttler PV Sindhu, paved her way into last 16 after she defeated Japanese Natsuki Nidaira in straight sets 21-16, 21-12. In the Men's Singles event, 7th seeded HS Prannoy advanced to the pre-quarterfinals after beating Chinese Yuxiang Huang 21-13, 21-11. Earlier, K Srikanth made a shock exit in the first round while Sameer Verma and P Kashyap withdrew in first round.In the doubles segment, Men's pair of Pranaav Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar beat duo of Yong Kai Terry Hee and Kean Hean Loh from Singapore 21-18, 21-13 to be up against 7th seeded Chinese pair of Wang Yilyu and Zhang Wen in pre-quarterfinals. Indian women's pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa also made it to the pre-quarterfinals after they defeated Malaysian pair of Mei Kuan Chow and Meng Yean Lee 21-16, 21-18.
