China said today it has executed three Philippine citizens who were convicted of trafficking in illicit drugs. Philippine Vice President Jojomar Binay announced the executions of the two women and one man today during an interview on Manila television, after receiving word of the deaths from Philippine diplomats. Ramon Credo and Sally Villanueva were put to death in Xiamen, while Elizabeth Batain was executed in Shenzhen, all three by lethal injections. The three were arrested separately in 2008 after they were caught transporting heroin. They were convicted and sentenced a year later.
