China-B’desh to expand bilateral trade ties

China and Bangladesh have signed a series of agreements on oil, gas, mineral and agricultural cooperation.<br/><br/>A joint statement issued at the end of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visit to China said the two countries planned to take active measures to expand bilateral trade, ease trade imbalance and enhance cooperation in agriculture, transportation and infrastructure.<br/><br/>The two countries also signed an agreement which provides for a concessional loan by China to Bangladesh and construction of the seventh Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge at Kajirtek. They also decided to strengthen cooperation on flood control, disaster alleviation, water resources management and hydrological data sharing.<br/><br/>During the meeting chinese President Hu Jintao recalled his first meeting with Hasina 17 years ago when the latter headed a Bangladeshi delegation to China.<br/><br/>He also expressed appreciation for the contributions that the late father of Hasina had made to enhance friendship between the people of the two countries.<br/><br/>
