<span style="color: #222222;">Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra today said that the Election Commission will ensure free and fair polls in Punjab. He was addressing a press conference after reviewing poll preparedness in Punjab at Chandigarh with his team.<br />'' <br />'' He said that the Commission's endeavor is to ensure participation of all voters in the poll and for this, the Commission has directed to enhance the sweep activities especially on 500 polling stations identified as low voter turnout polling stations.<br />'' <br />'' Mr. Chandra said that while reviewing poll preparedness in the state, ECI team had met the representatives of 6 national and 2 state-level parties and listened to their concerns. He said that most of the parties are concerned about law and order, use of cash and liquor during the elections. He said that some parties had highlighted non-cooperation by the local administration and also raised duplication of voters like migrant labourers registered in two states. He said , they want 100 percent deployment of VVPAT with EVMs. Mr. Chandra said that  ECI has assured to address their concerns.<br />'' <br />'' He said that in view of Covid 19 virus, all the norms like social distancing would be followed at polling stations. He said that in view of this 1, 478 more polling stations have been set up this time. He told that this time in Punjab there will be 165 polling stations fully managed by women and 57 polling booths fully managed by persons with disabilities. He said that voters above 80 years of age have option to cast their vote from home, which will be video graphed.<br />'' <br />''<br />''CEC said that as long as use of muscle power, money, and government machinery is concerned, Election Commission will follow zero-tolerance policy. He said that orders have been given to check the supply of liquor and money from adjoining states and enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure misuse of money in polls.</span><br />
