Home minister P. Chidambaram today welcomed an informed debate on the interlocutors report on Jammu and Kashmir that has been put on the public domain. Briefing newsmen in New Dehi, he said, the Government has not taken a view on the appointment of Constitutional Committee as recommended by the JK interlocutors.
He said, workshops would be organised to debate the issue and the interlocuters have offered to act as resource persons. Terming it as an important issue to be addresed seriously, the Home minister said, an All party meeting would be the ideal forum for taking a decision.
On NCTC, the Home minister said, the Centre has taken on board the issues raised by the States and will address them suitably.
Speaking on Maoist violence, the Home minister said, the ultras are using large quantities of mines and explosives causing casualties to securiy forces. The Home minster said, the numbers are however declining. He said 317 security personnel were killed in 2009, 285 in 2010, 142 last year and 72 so far this year.
