Chidambaram urges security men to use force with responsibility

The Home Minister has urged the security men to use their force with responsibility. <br/><br/>While maintaining the State alone has the right to use force and no one else, Mr. P.Chidambaram said that it should be used with responsibility without committing human rights violations and not use it against unarmed defenceless people. <br/><br/>He said that the forces must respect the limitations imposed on them otherwise the people can question the intentions of the government and the legitimacy of the state to use force. <br/><br/>On terror, Mr. Chidambaram said that no country is free from its threat and there is a need to always remain vigilant. <br/><br/>He also said that there are different forms and sources of terror and the country has to deal with them with tact, patience and understanding. <br/><br/>He said that the goal should be to build peaceful just and humane society. <br/><br/>Commending the BSF for the yeoman services they have rendered in the defence of the borders in peace time, Mr. Chidambaram said that their responsibilities have expanded from time to time and they have been involved in counter insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir as well as fighting left wing extremism. <br/><br/>The Home Minister was speaking after presenting medals at an investiture ceremony for the BSF personnel. A pledge was also taken to mark the Anti-terrorism Day.
