The Home Minister, Mr. P Chidambaram has urged the West Bengal Chief Minister to take action against the armed cadres in the state. He told Mr. Budhadeb Bhattacharjee that armed cadres of any political party cannot be allowed to play any part in the discharge of this responsibility . He reiterated that maintaining law and order is the responsibility of the security forces. He also drew pointed attention to the grave incident in Netai village . Suspected CPIM armed had allegedly gunned down seven villagers in the village in Lalgarh on the 7th of this month. Home Minister shared with the Chief Minister information and intelligence available with the centre. According to an official spokesman Mr. Bhattacharjee assured the Home Minister that he understood the seriousness of the concern expressed by the Home Minister and will take appropriate steps. Mr. Bhattacharjee also met the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and exchanged views with him on the prevailing situation in West Bengal. Mr. Bhattacharjee met the Home Minister for about 45 minutes. He also called on the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh .He later told a press conference that armed groups in the State will be disarmed. He said 28 police stations were affected by the Maoists violence and now the situation is gradually returning to normal. Mr. Bhattacharjee alleged that some Maoists are being openly backed by Trinamool Congress and he has informed the Home Minister about the same.
