Home Minister P Chidambaram is visiting Raipur and Mumbai tomorrow to take stock of the anti-Naxal operations and development programmes being carried out in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. He is expected to emphasise on coordinated joint operation against the Maoists and speedy implementation of development schemes in his meetings with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, civil and police oficials. Home ministry officials said in New Delhi today, during his last week's visit to Orissa and Jharkhand, the Home Minister had expressed concern over unplanned action against Maoists and conveyed to the two state governments that without foolproof planning of police action and development programmes, the menace could not be tackled successfully. According to experts, Naxal-affected states have not been able to get the desired results in their action against the Maoists due to unplanned offensives and lack of coordination among state police forces. Though the state governments were conducting operationsagainst Naxals and undertaking developmental works, thesehave been done on piece-meal basis and not under any detailedplan.
