The Centre said the needle of suspicion in the Jnaneshwari Express disaster killing 148 people pointed to Maoists. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Monday, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said, the needle of suspicion points to Maoists or frontal organisations of CPI (Maoists).<br/><br/>In a related development, the West Bengal government ruled out a CBI probe into the incident. Home Secretary Samar Ghosh told reporters in Kolkata that the CID probe has progressed a great deal and the state government does not feel that a parallel inquiry is necessary.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Mr. Chidambaram said that the government may revisit its anti-Maoist policy at a Cabinet meeting on security soon. This assumes significance in the wake of a surge in Left-wing attacks that have killed over 300 people since the beginning of the year.<br/><br/>The Defence Minister Mr. A K Antony said in Pune on Monday that the government is examining all pros and cons of various aspects of deploying army in anti-Naxalite operations.
