Chidambaram reviews overall situation in J&K

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, who is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, today reviewed overall situation in the state. The high level meeting held at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar was attended by State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Senior officers of state and central government and security agencies. A report from our correspondent: The meeting lasted for more than two hours. Taking review of all aspects of security situation and developmental scenario Mr Chidambaram expressed satisfaction on improvement in the over all situation and success full conduct of Panchayat elections in the state. Progress of various security and develop men related initiatives of union government was discussed in the meeting. The state chief minister apprised the home minister about various steps of his government to consolidate both peace and development process in the state.
