Chidambaram reviews anti-Naxal ops in Maharashtra

Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday held a high level meeting in Mumbai with Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Home Minister R.R Patil and top police officials to review the steps taken by the state government to tackle Naxalism.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mr. Patil said that Mr. Chidambaram assured that more funds will be made available for developing the infrastructural facilities like road, electricity and water in the Naxal-affected areas of Gondhia and Gadchiroli.

In this meeting, the state government presented an action taken report to the Home Minister, enlisting its successes and failures in the last 11 months to curb the Naxalite problem in Gadchiroli and Gondhia districts.
