More in this report:The Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, who made a brief visit to Maharashtra’s Gachiroli district today, reviewed the security measures put in place to tackle the naxal menace.Arriving in the Naxal-affected district early in the morning, the Union Home Minister held a close-door meeting with State Home Minister RR Patil, Minister of State for Home Pratik Patil, DGP D Sivanandan and other senior officers of the revenue and police departments. This was the first ever visit by a Union Home Minister to Gadchiroli. The Union Minister also met the local MLAs and MLCs individually later.
