Chidambaram review security situation in J&K

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday reviewed the law and order and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir at a high-level meeting in Srinagar. He along with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also discussed security arrangements for upcoming annual Amarnath pilgrimage.An official spokesman said in Srinagar that Mr. Chidambaram impressed upon security agencies to reduce unnecessary presence of security force bunkers wherever possible without compromising on security issues. Earlier, Mr Chidambaram inaugurated the Jashn-e- Kashmir Kargil project at a function in Kargil.The project, which is a chain of cultural youth workshops, is aimed at creating awareness among the youth about art, culture, music and folk arts of the state and showcasing them in other parts of the country.
