The government will take forward the process of forming the separate state of Telangana after taking the views of all the stakeholders into consideration. Replying to the clarifications sought by members in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Finance Minister P Chidambaram , said the process will take time and he is unable to give a specific date of the formation. Mr Chidambaram said the procedures laid down in the Constitution will be followed along with the precedents. Mr Chidambaram said the Home Ministry will prepare a Cabinet note on substantive and procedural issues in this regard.

The Finance Minister was clarifying to the member on behalf of Home Minister who is indisposed. He said extensive consultations were held on Telangana both within Congress and with other parties.

Mr Chidambaram said a structured discussion on Telangana after the approval by the Union Cabinet, is premature at this juncture.
