Chidambaram offers to quit over Dantewada massacre

The Home Minister Mr. P.Chidambaram has offered to quit his post in the wake of Dantewada massacre by naxals. According to PMO, the offer has been rejected by Dr. Manmohan Singh. <br/><br/>Addressing a "Shourya Divas function" of the CRPF in New Delhi , Mr. Chidambaram took full responsibility for the massacre which left 76 security personnel dead. <br/><br/>Lauding the sacrifices of the paramilitary forces, Mr.Chidambaram asserted that government is making all out efforts to make their life comfortable and well equipped. <br/><br/>In a related development, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya has called for collective responsibility in tackling the naxal menace. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters in New Delhi, he called for revamping the plans and operations against the naxalites. Mr. Bhattacharya told reporters that he will be taking up the issue with the Prime Minister after he returns from a week-long visit to the US and Brazil. <br/><br/>On the other hand, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Mr. Raman Singh said that a consensus is evolving among the naxal affected states to wipe out the menace. <br/><br/>Political parties across the board have supported the Home Minister and said this is not the time to talk about resignation. They urged the government to take more effective measures to deal with the problem. <br/>
