Chidambaram issue, Guj land scam rock Rajya Sabha

AIADMK and Congress members disrupted proceedings of Rajya Sabha, forcing the Chair to adjourn the house twice this morning. AIADMK members trooped into the well of the House, demanding action against former Home Minister P. Chidambaram's son, who has alleged to have invested heavily in several real estate projects in India and abroad.<br/><br/>Congress members were also on their feet, demanding a discussion on reported allotment of land to business associates of Gujarat Chief Minister's daughter in 2010 by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Opposition leader Ghulam Nabi Azad alleged, 422 acres of land was allotted at 15 rupees per square metre in an eco-sensitive region in Gujarat. <br/><br/>Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien disallowed discussion, saying no proper notice was given by Congress. Several BJP members were also on their feet opposing the issue raised by Azad. AIADMK leader Navneet Krishnan demanded a discussion on the alleged involvement of Chidambaram in the Aircel-Maxis deal.<br/><br/>Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, government has no objection to discussion on the AIADMK demand. He said, appropriate action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
