Home Minister-level talks between India and Bangladesh will be held in Dhaka this morning. Home Minister P Chidambaram arrived in Dhaka on Friday night by a special flight to participate in the discussions. He was received at the airport by Bangladesh Home Minister Advocate Shahara Khatun. Mr. Chidambaram will be leading a nine member delegation, which includes senior officials from the Home and External Affairs Ministries along with the Director-General of the Border Security Force during the talks with the Bangladesh delegation. The two sides are expected to sign a joint border management plan agreement following the talks. The discussions are also likely to be focused on reaching an agreement on resolving outstanding land boundary issues with reference to enclaves and land under adverse possession. The neighbours will also review the progress of the joint surveys of the land under adverse possession and the results of the just concluded joint census in enclave areas. India and Bangladesh are hoping to sign a comprehensive agreement to resolve outstanding land boundary issues during Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s visit to Dhaka in September. Chidambaram will call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and meet Foreign Minister Dr.Dipu Moni before leaving for New Delhi tonight.
