Union Minister for Finance P. Chidambaram on Saturday highlighted the benefits of the direct cash transfer scheme introduced by the UPA – II Government.
Speaking at an election workshop in Mumbai for the 2014 Lok Sabha election and Maharashtra assembly elections , he dwelt on the merits of the direct cash transfer scheme.
Around 200 office-bearers and state congress leaders attended the event organised by the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committe.
Union ministers Salman Khurshid, K Rahman and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan also addressed the day-long conclave.
Senior party leaders analysed the prevailing political situation in Maharashtra at the day long workshop.
Meanwhile Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Manikrao Thackeray said, to celebrate 127 years of the Congress Party, the MPCC will organise a gathering of all congress party workers on 28th of this month. All prominent leaders of the party are expected to attend the function.
