Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that the Government is examining a proposal to make the mid-career specialization a must for the India Police Officers.
Addressing the passing out parade at the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad this morning, the Home Minister asked various police academies in the country to consider the proposal and take initiatives to include specialization such as Law and Order investigation, intelligence and counter insurgency in the curricula of various training courses for police officers.
Stating that policing is facing challenges from more and more adversaries, the Home Minister asked the passing out police officers to master the emerging technologies, acquire knowledge about new weaponry and achieve new alliances with every section of the society so that they can tackle challenges better.
Presenting the report, the Academy Director V N Rai said that the government has granted 200 crore rupees for undertaking several training infrastructure projects at the Academy.
Earlier, the Home Minister inspected a colourful parade of the 134 police officers including 21 women, 4 each from Royal Bhutan and Maldivian Police and 3 from Nepal police.
